Your heart is beating fast, hoping he doesn't come at you. You don't really want to shoot him.. you don't even know what he's done!\n\nYou take a few steps in to the storage room, so you are just out of sight of anyone passing the corridor. The man backs against the wall, knife pointed at you. Time to talk...\n\n"Listen, you made a mistake.. we can walk this back. Just drop your weapon. Alright? I won't shoot if you do." You tell the man, in a somewhat calm voice.\n\nThe prisoner jerks his head, his eyes twitching. "N-n-n-no.. This is the only way out. They're going to kill me for what I know."\n\n"What do you know? Who is going to kill you?" You ask.\n\n"You're the new one here, aren't you? You have no idea?" The prisoner replies. "Shoot me, and get it over with."\n\nDo you [[comply with the prisoners request]] or try and [[get more information]] out of him?
While two of the four marines are on the ground, the third tripping over them, and the forth trying to help the other three with Cornwall yelling at them to get up and get him, you run down the corridor after the prisoner.\n\nTurning several corners, at first you think you lost him. However, you hear heavy breathing from an open storage room. You grab your energy pistol, and turn the corner. You are face to face with the prisoner. He's holding a knife, although still bound.\n\nDo you [[talk the prisoner down]] or [[try and subdue him]]?
Unfortunately, the containers hit the unsuspecting marine, taking him to the ground, as you bolt in the other direction - attempting to stop the prisoner from making it out one of the exits.\n\nYou can hear Cornwall and the other marines trying to free their trapped comrade, shouting into a commlink for medical assistance - it isn't looking good for the marine.\n\nAs you come around one of the large pile of containers and skids of freight, you are face to face with the prisoner. You reach for your weapon, pointing it at him.\n\n"Don't move!" You tell the man. \n\nBreathing heavy, he takes a step forward.\n\nDo you [[shoot]]? Or try and [[talk him down]]?
Prisoner transfer gone wrong.\n\nBut you discover something of value in your secret investigation of Project Odin.
As the prisoner runs, and there is mass confusion between the guards, you help them up and proceed down the corridor - weapons drawn.\n\nYou seem to have lost him, and decide to split up. Two marines go with you, two with Cornwall. \n\nOne marine is several meters in front of you, while the other is behind. After a few minutes of going down different corridors, one of the doors opens as your group pass it and out jumps the prisoner, stabbing one of the marines in the neck - he falls like a bag of bricks - lifeless.\n\nBoth you and the other marine take aim at the man.\n\n"Why are you doing this?" You ask. \n\n"Don't give me over to them. Don't!" He shouts, pointing the bloody knife at the marine.\n\nYou look at the marine, he looks at you. Confused. In that split second of confusion by the answer, the man jumps towards the marine. Both of you fire at the man, putting several shots into his chest. He falls backwards, lifeless.\n\n\nYou step forward, and [[examine the body]], while the other marine checks his comrade.
You select the report that shows the placement of all the security devices on the station including cameras, motion sensors and other devices.\n\nAt first, it looks like everything is in order. But you decide to dig deeper. A more detailed report shows that there are gaps in where the cameras and sensors are able to see. \n\nYou note three locations where there are gaps in the security network inside the station.\n\n<<set $security to 1>>\n\n[[Go back to review the other reports|reports for you to review]]
"What did he steal? Exactly? None of this vague crap now." You tell Cornwall, hoping that standing your ground will get you some new information.\n\nCornwall sighs, "Information. That's what he stole."\n\n"So he was a spy?" You ask.\n\n"You could say that. I can't tell you what information he stole. That's classified. You don't have clearance." The marines replies.\n\n"The Governor tells me I have full access to everything and everyone on Janus and inside this station. Nothing is classified." You snap back.\n\nCornwall shakes his head, "This is. Leave it at that. You best drop this too."\n\n[[Go back to ask another question|return to your office]]\n\n<<set $answer2 to 1>>\n\n
You hold up your hands, making no aggressive gestures. "We can talk this out." You tell the prisoner. \n\n"No. We can't." He replies. "They'll kill me regardless. I know too much."\n\nNow this has your attention. "What do you know?"\n\n"Not enough time. Gamma Barracks, Section Four, Corridor B. You'll find the answer there." The prisoner says.\n\nJust as he finishes, Cornwall comes around the corner, shooting the man in the forehead. The prisoner drops, lifeless. \n\nYou turn around, "I was talking him down. I had him."\n\n"Couldn't take that chance." Cornwall replies. "As soon as the medical team is done with my man, they'll clean this turd up." He snorts, walking back towards where is man is.\n\nYou sigh. Thinking to what the man said. What could be there?\n\nYou head back to your office, and sit at your desk. \n\n"Computer, I need a report on Gamma Barracks, Section Four, Corridor B. Security Monitoring, Communications and Power Distribution. Diplsay at my console, encrypt to my passcode only."\n\nThe [[reports for you to review]] will take a few minutes to process. It's a lot of information.
"I'm not going to shoot you. But you need to tell me what's going on. I'll protect you." You tell the prisoner, watching the knife in his hand.\n\n"No one can protect me. I've seen what they're doing down there. I was trying to get the truth out before they caught me." He says, visibly shaken by whatever it is he had seen.\n\nYou sigh, taking a step forward, "What did you see?"\n\n"No.. no. I can't tell you. They'll kill you if you knew.." \n\n"If I knew about Project Odin?" You say, seeing how he responds.\n\nThe man looks you straight in the eye, "You know? But how?"\n\n"It doesn't matter. I need to know ---" Before you can finish, the marines and Cornwall come rushing down the hall. \n\nYou take aim at the man, step forward abit more and shoot the the man in the chest. He falls to the ground, dead.\n\nCornwall gets to the door first, looking at him.\n\n"He came at me with that knife." You say, sighing while you holster your weapon. "Can we talk in my office?"\n\nThe marine nods, ordering his men to take the body to the ship and the two of you [[head back to your office|return to your office]].\n\n<<set $marines to 0>>
You bring up the Power Distribution Network report for Odin Station. The report glows in various colors - each color representing a different power source. \n\nIn several locations though, power seems to be flowing into an empty wall. Very odd. You make note of that for when you are ready to formulate your next move.\n\n<<set $power to 1>>\n\n[[Review another report|reports for you to review]]
Both you and Colonel Cornwall reach your office, closing the door behind you.\n\n"So what do you want to talk about?" Cornwall asks.\n\n\nAsk Cornwall about [[what the man was afraid of]].\n\nAsk Cornwall about [[what the man was accused of]].\n\n<<if $answer1 + $answer2 is 2>>\n[[Ask Cornwall what comes next]]\n<<endif>>\n\n
After reviewing the three reports, you narrow down all the odd readings to where all three reports match to one area.\n\nGamma Barracks - Section Four - Corridor B\n\nPower and Communications flow into a wall that goes to no where. And there are no security devices that view or monitor that area. There is only one room there, and it isn't occupied. \n\n\nYou lean back in your chair, scratching you head. Something is clearly going on. Project Odin, the prisoner, now this. \n\nYou feel that you're in over your head. Before you can dig deeper, you need to find some help. But who?\n\n\n--- End of Act I ---\n\n[[Return to Main Page|http://projectodin.neocities.org/]]
Bringing up the Station Communication Pathway report, everything seems normal. No odd outgoing communications. Nothing encrypted. Nothing out of the ordinary.\n\nLooking closer at the report, there are two communication pathways that seem to go to no where. They just end but seem to be getting data pass both ways. \n\nThe data makes no sense, but clearly needs to be reviewed with whatever the other reports show.\n\n[[Review the remaining reports|reports for you to review]]\n\n<<set $communications to 1>>\n
As the prisoner gets closer to you, you open fire at him. Taking him down.\n\n"He's down!" You yell to the others as you kneel down in front of the man, checking his pulse. Nothing.\n\nSighing, you check the contents of his pockets. A piece of paper folded nicely into his pocket is found. On it, it reads: \n\nGamma Barracks - Section Four - Corridor B\n\nYou put the paper in your pocket, just as Cornwall arrives with one marine. Apparently the medical team arrived to work on the injured marined.\n\nYou stand up, looking at Cornwall, "Sorry. He came at me."\n\n"It's fine. Nothing you could do. And after what he did, the bastards lucky I didn't get my hands on him." Cornwall growls, angry over what happened. \n\n\n"Your man going to be alright?" You ask.\n\n"Don't know. Will find out in abit. I need to get to sickbay. We will talk later." The marine commander replies, taking off towards a corridor that would lead to sickbay.\n\nYou [[head back to your office]] to review the paper and file a report on the incident.
The entrance to Access Corridor C opens up. Behind it stands you, Cornwall, four marines and the prisoner. The Marines push the prisoner along the corridor, passing by sickbay.\n\n"A lot of guns for one guy, don't you think?" You ask the Colonel.\n\nCornwall snorts, "Yeah, well, he killed three of mine before we caught him."\n\n"I know me being here is a formality, and his entire case under your jurisdiction but a little more information would be nice?" You try and prod more out of Cornwall.\n\n"He was caught in a restricted area, trying to steal some equipment. That's all I can tell you." The marines replies.\n\nRestricted area? Which area? There aren't many restricted areas on base since everyone has the same level clearance - apparently.\n\n"Alright, I'll take your word on ---" before you can finish your sentence, the prisoners hands come flying around, hitting one guard in the head, knocking him into another. In the confusion, the prisoner makes a run for it.\n\nDo you [[chase the prisoner alone]] or [[help the guards]] and go together? \n\n\n<<set $marines to 4>>
Just as planned, you arrive at the port to Access Corridor B. Behind the door stands Colonel Cornwall with four of his marines. In the center of the group stands the prisoner. \n\n"Ready to go?" Cornwall asks.\n\nYou nod back, "Let's get this over with."\n\nThe marine commander chuckles, "Going through the cargo holds doesn't attract any attention. No one in there this time of day." \n\nThe group begins to move through the corridors, reaching a large pressurized door marked 'Cargo Hold 5'. The door opens, and the group moves between towers of cargo containers. \n\nAbout half way through the cargo hold, the prisoner trips one of the guards, causing the one behind him to fall. Pushing the guard to the other side of him, the prisoner runs between several stacks of cargo containers, pushing one of them as he runs.\n\nThe stack of containers, weighing quite abit each, begin to fall towards one of the marines.\n\nDo you [[push the marine]] out of the way to save him? Or do you [[run around the other side]] of the containers in chase?
You pause for a moment. What is he talking about? Why does he want to die so bad?\n\nThe prisoner must sense the hesitation in you, however as he jumps towards you he drops his knife. In the split second between that, you shoot the man in the chest. He falls to the ground, face first in on the floor.\n\nYou holster your energy pistol, kneeling down and checking the mans pulse. Nothing.\n\nCornwall and two of his marines arrive. "What the hell happened?"\n\n"I had him cornered, there was a box cutter in here. He came at me, I shot him." You say, looking up at Cornwall from where you kneel. You shake your head, and Cornwall nods back understanding the man is head. \n\nThe marine looks to his men, "Clean this mess up and ship the body out."\n\nYou stand up, "I want a word with you in private, now." \n\nCornwall nods, and the two of you [[return to your office]].\n\n<<set $marines to 0>>
"Well, I guess I'll leave it there then. Anything you need me to do with the death?" You ask Cornwall.\n\nHe shakes his head. "No, don't think so. My men will take the body to the ship. I'll fill out the report and send it to you for your signature and approval. Sound alright?"\n\nYou nod in agreement. \n\n"Good, I better see where they are at with that. We'll talk later." The marines replies as he turns and leaves your office.\n\n"What the hell is going on here?" You ask yourself as you sit behind your desk, putting your pistol in a secure drawer.\n\n<<set $energypistol to 0>>\n\n"Computer, bring up schematics on Odin Station, include power distribution, security surveillence position and communication relay data. Encrypt to my passcode only." You say.\n\nThe computer chimes back, acknowledging your request. \n\nAfter a minute, the computer spits out various [[reports for you to review]].
As the containers begin to fall, you push the marine - who shouts in protest, not seeing the stack of containers falling from overhead.\n\nThe marine falls to the ground, but you are struck in the head and back with several containers.\n\nYou hit the ground, hard. Unable to move. You pass out as the containers stack on top of you, the pain to great to keep conscience.\n\nYou awake a week later in the Odin Station sickbay, unable to move. The doctor tells you that you are paralized from the neck down and there is nothing they can do here - you will be shipped back to Earth, where they may be able to do something, but you will never be the same.\n\nWhatever was happening on Odin Station will stay a secret, as you are no longer able to function as you once were.\n\n\n[[Return to Main Page|http://projectodin.neocities.org/]]
The man doesn't look like he's in a talking mood. As you take a few steps into the storage room, the man disappears behind several racks full of containers. \n\nYou slowly peak your head around the first rack - no one there. Three more to go. \n\nAs you look around the second rack, the man jumps you and a struggle ensues. Your weapon is knocked from your hand, just out of range. \n\n"Get off of me!" You shout as your try and turn and get him off of you. As you do, the man slides the knife into your side where there is no armor - he knew where he was aiming for. \n\nThe blood flows from you as you lie on the floor in pain. He struck you in the heart with his knife on the left side of your body. The man runs off into the complex, leaving you there to die, alone. \n\n<<set $marines to 0>>\n\nYou are dead.
You've had a few sleepless nights, but the last few days have gone by rather smoothly. The thought of that classified file you had come across lingers in your mind. Are they going to ask you about it? Who knows.\n\nBefore you know it, your alarm sounds - an annoying buzzing sound alerting you to the fact that you should be crawling out of bed.\n\nYou get out of bed, shower, eat, put on your uniform and head towards your office. Prisoner transfer is supposed to be happening today. Not sure what the issue is, but Colonel Cornwall says the order comes from above. \n\nCornwall is already there, briefing some of the security detail and handing out weapons. \n\nYou grab your energy pistol and combat armor and depart with the prisoner and security detail. Cornwall had suggested taking Access Corridor C, which passes Sickbay. You had suggested Access Corridor B, which passes through a cargo holding area.\n\nWhich way do you go? \n\nTake [[Access Corridor B|Via B]]\n\nTake [[Access Corridor C|Via C]]\n\n<<set $energypistol to 1>>\n<<set $combatarmor to 1>>
"Before he came at me, the prisoner said they were going to kill him. Who's he talking about? What am I missing?" You ask Cornwall.\n\n"It's complicated. Couple paygrades over your head. You shouldn't worry about it." Cornwall replies.\n\nYou shake your head, "I run security here, if somethings going on, I want to know about it.. No, I need to know about it." You snap back.\n\n"You really don't. And you're here because the Governor wanted an independent security force watching over security for Janus and the station. Don't push too far." The marines says.\n\n[[Go back to ask another question|return to your office]]\n\n<<set $answer1 to 1>>
You find a small piece of paper on the prisoners lifeless body.\n\nThe paper read:\n\nGamma Barracks - Section Four - Corridor B\n\nYou put the paper in your pocket, just as Cornwall and the others arrive. \n\n"He's dead?" Cornwall asks.\n\n"Yeah, and he got one of yours by surprise. I'm sorry." You say, as you stand up and look at the dead marine.\n\n"Get his body to the ship, and take the marine to sickbay." Cornwall says, sighing. \n\n"I'm sorry, he jumped out of the room over there." You point to the open door. "Happened just as your guy passed the door. I'll go fill out the reports on this." \n\nCornwall nods, as he looks down at his man. You [[head back to your office]] to fill out the report, and to look at this paper more closely.

Your heart is still racing when you get back to your office. You sit at your desk, putting the piece of paper on it.\n\nGamma Barracks - Section Four - Corridor B\n\nWhat does it mean? \n\nYou have the computer run a report on that section of the station.\n\nOdd. Power and communications go into a wall, but there's nothing on the schematics for what's behind it - there should be nothing. Equally as odd, that corner of the base has no security devices monitoring it. \n\nYou scratch your chin. "Why was he afraid of them?" He looks back at the station schematic. "What's there?" \n\nShaking your head, you put the paper into your desk and begin writing that report. You're in over your head. Something is obviously going on with the Directorate Marines, Project Odin and now this oddity in the station schematics.\n\nYou need to find help. You can't do this alone. But who?\n\n--- End of Act I ---\n\n[[Return to Main Page|http://projectodin.neocities.org/]]
